Marilyn S. Bruce

Marilyn (Lynn) Bruce, 89, died Thursday, July 12th after a courageous battle with lymphoma and kidney disease.  Marilyn passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family.  She has been reunited with her loving husband, Herbert Arthur Bruce, who we know led the cheering section for Marilyn’s arrival in God’s Eternal Kingdom.

Marilyn & Herb were married for 67 years and for the last 64 of those years resided in their Glen Ellyn home that they designed and built together.  Marilyn is survived by her son, Scott Bruce; her daughter, Vicki (Bruce) Lafontaine and her husband Bill; three grandchildren and their spouses: Ben and Aimee (Mendoza) Lafontaine, Jami (Lafontaine) and Bryan Dougherty, and Steve and Liz (Book) Lafontaine.  Lynn also leaves her adorable great-grandsons who brought her so much joy: William Lafontaine, Jack Lafontaine, Colin Dougherty, Cormac Dougherty and Alden Lafontaine.

Lynn was heartbroken when Herb passed away but much like her endearing nicknames, that Herb fondly called her, the “5 Star General” or the “Swede” she carried on her duties as matriarch of the family.  Just like Herb always said – “He Married The Best”.  We think they both did.  Love you Mom & Dad.

A Memorial Service will be held in Lynn’s honor at The First United Methodist Church, 424 Forest Avenue, Glen Ellyn at 1:00 on Saturday July 28.
