Don Berry Obituary

Don V. Berry, age 87, of Wheaton, passed away quietly on Friday, July 2, 2021. He was born February 1, 1934 in Chicago. Don grew up in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago, graduating from Morgan Park in 1952 and Wheaton College in 1956. Continuing on to receive an MBA from Northwestern and a CPA from the University of Illinois.

Don was actively involved in church life at First Presbyterian of Glen Ellyn; He taught Sunday school, was a youth leader, took trips with the High School students, was a 3 time Elder, 3 time Deacon, Stephen Minister, and fierce prayer warrior. Don was known for his kind, creative, calm, caring ways, sense of humor (which created unique solutions to “following the rules”). You knew you were in for a great story as soon as you spotted that “twinkle” in his eyes.

Don was married to Gay (Peterson) on September 5, 1959. (He loved to tell everyone that on their first date, Gay insisted that she open her own doors and he knew right then that she was the one!)  He is preceded in death by his son Jeff, and brothers Frank and Eugene Jr. He is survived by his wife, daughter Pam (Ray) Peters, daughter-in-law Beth (Savage) Berry, grandchildren Ray III, Kelsey, Sydney, Kimberly, Joshua, and sister Marilyn Couch. As well as several nieces and nephews.
