LaVerne (Voss) Olson

LaVerne M. Olson nee Voss, a lifelong resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 8, 2019. She was born April 17, 1930 to Henry and Dorothy Voss and was raised in Glen Ellyn.  She married her Glenbard High School sweetheart in 1949. They raised their two daughters, Karen and Sharon (Jim) in Glen Ellyn. She is also survived by her grandchildren Angie (PJ), Jim (Carrie), and Jennifer (Tyler) and her great-grandchildren Isaac, Caila, Eloise, Rhys, and Liam.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Richard (Dick), Sister Muriel and brothers-in-law Allen (Kay) and Robert. She is survived by her brother Arvin (Lynn), brother-in-law Chester, sisters-in-law Betty and Oral. She is also the proud aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and great-aunt.

LaVerne was a faithful mom and devoted housewife. She was an active founding member of Glen Ellyn Bible Church where she sang praises in the choir, rang hymns on the handbells, and spent many hours tending young children in the nursery. Her love for the kitchen showed through in fabulously catered meals, seemingly endless choices of Christmas cookies, and her famous Swedish coffee bread. She always made sure to have enough of whatever came out of her kitchen to share with those around her. She also loved sewing, gardening, and spoiling all those around her.

Visitation Friday, August 16,4:00-8:00. A Memorial service Saturday, August 17, 10:00 at Glen Ellyn Bible Church. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn immediately following service and all are welcome to attend.
