The SUNY ESF Department of Paper and Bioprocess Engineering and the Syracuse Pulp and Paper Foundation would like to express our deep and most sincere condolences for the loss of your father and grandfather and our respected colleague Dr. William Holtzman. We would also like to express our great appreciation for all he has done for us including teaching, mentoring and encouraging generations of students. The establishment of the Sandy and Dr. Bill Holtzman Endowed Scholarship is a testimony to his (and Sandy's) immense generosity. We will keep both Sandy and Dr. Bill in our warmest memories.

What a blessing Mr. Bill was in our lives - that smile, laugh, great sense of humor made him a social delight but his skill at SUNY in his field was recognized by many especially the students to whom he gave mentoring and advice and by his peers who admired his gentle spirit and knowledge. He and Sandy were such a grand addition to the staff and everyone looked forward to spending time with them both. Stories of his National Park family trips, the mutual love and adoration he and Sandy shared were a wonderful model for us all. As a family you were indeed richly blessed to have such a father and mother. Leo and Kathy Schroeder

It is with great sadness to learn of Bill's passing. We are honored to have known Bill and Sandy and to have been touched by their lives. Bill was such a kind, gentle, intellegent, and caring person and we truly appreciate his presence in Syracuse, NY and at SUNY-ESF. I will always remember Bill at SUNY-ESF and both Bill and Sandy when they attended the annual holiday parties, Sandy always contributing not only the most wonderful food but insisting on helping and Bill the light of the gatherings and having great stories to share. I will also always remember the chance the Bill had to attend one of the Syracuse Children's Choir Concerts and his love of music. Bill and Sandy will both be so missed. Thank you for continuing the Scholarship at SUNY-ESF in their memory. Sincerely, Gary and Kay Scott
