Bernie L Cozad

 
 
Bernie L. Cozad of Carol Stream passed away suddenly at age 78. He is survived by his wife Joanne, his children Troy, Tracey & Lisa (Vann) Ellison, their mother Joanne Abel, two grandsons, Troy and Robert Ellison, his nephews Larry (Maria) Griffin, Jay (Kathleen) Griffin and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Edna, & five siblings. Bernie was an extremely competitive man, who still holds the 100 yd dash record at Franklin High School in PA. He spent many years racing karts and was recently inducted into the Vintage Karting Hall of Fame. His career began in the 60's at G.E.M. Products and finished with Fox Distributing in 2009. He was an expert welder & head fabricator for kart exhaust pipes. Bernie was an avid hunter and a mentor for several young hunters. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday January 12, 2017 from 4-9PM at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL with a service at 8 PM.
