Winifred “Wini” B. Dyer, age 96, born in Columbia, Missouri, died October 6, 2024, in her Glen Ellyn, Illinois, home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Walter H. Dyer. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Jack) Curling, Amy (Larry) Wadler, and Carrie (Michael) Noland; her grandchildren, Jessica (Patrick) Pfeil, Mitchell Curling (Amanda), Elizabeth (Aaron) Kolkay, Drew Albert, Charles (Marisa) Albert, Melissa (Kenneth) Jackson, Victoria (Timothy) Stanton, and David (Erin) Noland; and eleven great-grandchildren, Henry, Eliza, Vivian, Wesley, Judah, Maya, Wini, Brock, Maggie, Will and James. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Beaven (Dan Finn).
Wini attended the University of Missouri Lab School from elementary school to high school and graduated from Hickman High School. She earned her degree in art education from the University of Missouri where she met her husband Walter.
Wini enjoyed a 50-year career in the creative arts field including working in window display at the Pacesetter in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, as a fashion show commentator, and teaching high school art at Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, Illinois.
Wini and Walt relocated across the country numerous times for Walt’s career making lifelong friends along the way, taking them from Columbia, Missouri, to Brookfield, Missouri, Freeport, Texas, Decatur, Illinois, and later Waldwick and Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, across the country to Orinda, California, and finally settling in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, in 1972. She was a 52-year Glen Ellyn resident and member of Glen Oak Country Club.
Wini loved spending time with family and friends. She was an avid bridge player and was involved in many charitable organizations including, Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare, Community Nursing Service (CNS), Reliquarians, Glen Ellyn Book Club, Glen Ellyn Historical Society, Glen Ellyn Woman’s Club, and P.E.O.
Wini was a talented artist and many of her original water color, oil, and pastel paintings are proudly displayed in the homes of her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, 550 N. Main Street, at 11:00 am. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery after funeral service.
