Virginia “Virg” Chiovari, 86, beloved wife of the late Joseph Chiovari, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024. Surrounded by her loved ones, she was reunited with her husband on their 71st wedding anniversary.
She was born in 1938 in Chicago, raising her family in Glen Ellyn, IL and spending her final years in Winfield. Virg was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many. She loved spending time with those close, celebrations with family and friends, cherished family traditions (passing along the secrets to the best homemade bread, pizza and Italian cookies hands down), had a knack for decorating, enjoyed her retail therapy, dinners out on the town, trips to Vegas and beyond, avid canoer (haha), and so much more. Virg was known for her sassy wit, her classy style, and her soft hugs and gentle kisses. And ALWAYS had her candy jar filled ready for the grandkid’s visits.
Virginia is survived by her two children, Ginger (Steven) Christiansen, and Joseph (Tracy) Chiovari; grandchildren, Shannon (Sean) Clements, Cally (Angelo) Cavallino, Carli (Matthew) Hyde, Joseph (Alaina “Ali”) Chiovari; six cherished great-grandchildren; Zachary & Delaney Clements, Giada & Mekaela Cavallino and Rose & Rocco Hyde, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Thomas & Virginia Shannon and sister Marie Maturo.
Visitation will be held at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St, Glen Ellyn, on October 21st from 9am–noon with a service at 11AM. Burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
