Sylvia Steimle Obituary

Sylvia Ann Steimle, 85, of Glen Ellyn, passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2021. She was born March 11, 1936, in Chicago to Emil and Elsie (Malmberg) Vahlin.

After graduating from Proviso High School, Sylvia worked for the Prudential Insurance Company, where she met her future husband. They married on September 8, 1962. After the birth of their fourth child, they decided to settle in Glen Ellyn. Her 35 years as a Jewel cashier were a natural fit for her outgoing personality.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Thomas; her children, Karen of Aurora, IL, Christine (Bob) Gilski of Algonquin, IL, Gary (Libin) of San Diego, CA, and Kathleen of Aurora, IL; grandchildren Kevin Steimle and Melissa Gilski; sister Carole Finley of Westminster, CO, and brothers Ronald Vahlin of Riviera Beach, FL, and Richard (Sharon) Vahlin of Palos Park, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
