Sue Scarpelli age 84 of Glen Ellyn. Sue is the beloved wife of Nate for 62 years. Devoted mother of Jean (Stephen) Dickson, Linda Scarpelli, Richard (Lisa) Scarpelli, and the late Kathleen “Kiki” Haviar. Dear grandmother of Natalie Dickson (Fiance Jamie Southern) & Maria Dickson, Kelly & Joe Fatten, and James & Angel Scarpelli. Dearest daughter of the late Rocco & late Mary Pauletto. Fond sister of the late Anthony (Patricia) Pauletto and dearest aunt to many nieces & nephews.
Sue lived her whole life in the Chicago area. She attended Notre Dame High School and Northern Illinois Teachers College. Nate and Sue were married in 1961. They moved to Glen Ellyn and raised their four children. She was an excellent cook and hosted many holidays and gatherings. She will especially be remembered for Friday pizza nights. She ran her house with a white glove and a wooden spoon.
After attending an initial stained glass art lesson, she went on to create heirloom pieces for family and friends. Sue was an avid reader, one of her favorite authors being Agatha Christie. She also enjoyed racquetball, gardening, cross-country skiing, bridge, golf, and traveling with family and friends.
Sue was fortunate to have shared her life with family and many good friends.
The family thanks the Belmont Village staff and Suncrest Hospice for their loving care of Sue the past few months.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22nd from 10 AM until the time of Mass (11 AM) at St. Petronille Church, 420 Glenwood Ave. Glen Ellyn.
