Sheila Montroy Keeley, 71, of Glen Ellyn, passed away on December 16, 2021 after complications from a short but courageous battle with Lymphoma. Loving mother of Karen (Harry) Snodgrass, James Michael (Andrea) Keeley, Patrick Montroy (Shelygan) Keeley, and Tim (Kate) Keeley. Dear grandmother “Gaga” of Frannie, Theo, Fionnuala, Deidre, Julia, and James Keeley. Fond sister of the late Patrick J. (Patricia) Montroy, the late Mary (Ed) Graham, and the late Margaret (William) Dart. Beloved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews, and “Cousin Sheila” to many.
Sheila was a lifelong educator, with a long career at Klein ISD in Spring, Texas, culminating with several years teaching in the Chicago Public Schools as a Reading Specialist. Even in retirement, she found herself teaching, primarily on a pro-bono basis for underprivileged children.
Sheila joins her late husband, James M. (Jim) Keeley, Sr. in eternal rest. Together, Jim and Sheila raised four children who will miss their Mom dearly. Sheila was a friend to many, had a great sense of humor, loved books, her dogs, and all things Irish.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to SitStayRead, with a mission near and dear to Sheila of advancing children’s literacy, are appreciated, https://www.sitstayread.org/donate.
