Scott Arthur Bruce

Scott Arthur Bruce passed away peacefully on May 14th after many years of failing health.

Scott was born in Oak Park, IL on September 10, 1956 to Herb and Lynn (Rosengren) Bruce. Scott’s childhood was marked by a series of illnesses and physical struggles. Despite these challenges, Scott enjoyed time with his friends, family, and the family dog: Friskie. In high school, Scott was involved with the gymnastics team, and excelled at the rings. After graduating from Glenbard West in June of 1974, Scott went on to work a series of jobs related to mechanics. His last job was as a Production Supervisor for Serac, Inc. in Carol Stream.

Outside of work, Scott spent most of his time doting on his Rottweilers (Max, Ralph, and Pete), working on his motorcycles, and hanging out with friends at the Bruce family cottage on the Fox River.

For the last decade, Scott has lived in an assisted living facility in Bloomingdale. Whether battling multiple bouts of cancer, hydrocephalus, heart and circulation issues, early onset dementia, or a number of issues related to his lifelong struggle with arthritis, Scott maintained his mischievous personality. Scott’s life was challenging, but he was always supported by his loving family.

Scott was preceded in death by his adoring parents, his loving sister Vicki, and supportive brother-in-law Bill. He is survived by his nephew Ben (Aimee) Lafontaine, niece Jami (Bryan) Dougherty, and nephew Steve (Liz) Lafontaine, grandnephews Will Lafontaine (18), Jack Lafontaine (13), Colin Dougherty (15), Cormac Dougherty (12), Alden Lafontaine (8), and grandniece Maeve Lafontaine (3). He is also survived by many cousins and extended family.
