Rudolph Di Domenico Obituary

Rudolph Louis Di Domenico was a husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family. When Rudy was only 20, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Joy, and had two kids: Michael and Lynn Marie “Maria”.

Rudy was a proud, hard working, and at times stubborn family man who wanted nothing more than to take care of his family. He taught his children and grandchildren about their Italian heritage, took them on camping trips to National Parks, showed them how to fish, and baked the best pizzelles, also known as “flatcakes” by the family.

Rudy and Virginia’s love lasted for 57 years. They owned a laundromat together, bred golden retriever puppies, were captains of their bowling teams - they were a team themselves. Rudy and Virginia loved to dance to Neil Diamond. As their children began to have children, their home became the central nest for everyone to gather for birthdays, holidays, and family traditions.

It’s hard to not talk about horses, golden retrievers and fishing when reflecting on Rudy’s life. His best characteristics showed when he was caring for his six goldens, which brought out the loving and tender side of him.

Rudy’s childlike personality came out more as he got older - like finally eating ice cream for dinner whenever he wanted, cooking himself a fried bologna sandwich, going on a drive with the dogs, or staying up late watching his favorite scary movie. In his retired years, he enjoyed fishing and reminiscing for hours with his friend, Frank.

Rudy was very loved by his family and joins his wife, Virginia, and sister, Dolores, in rest. He’s survived by his two children, Michael and Lynn Marie, his older sister, Elisa, his dog, Tori, his best friend, Frank, his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
