Rose Marie V. Pekarek

Rose Marie V. Pekarek, 95, of Glen Ellyn for 56 years, born November 24, 1926, in St. Louis MO, passed away January 16, 2022. The youngest of a family of 8 children, Mrs. Pekarek fulfilled her dream of having a large family of her own. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Glendale Heights and a weekly volunteer Group Leader with Recovery International for over 50 years. She strongly advocated a lifestyle of natural foods, vitamins and exercise. She was a voracious reader and proponent of life-long learning. She was a pianist and loved to sing. She was passionately devoted to her dogs, taking them EVERYWHERE. Survived by: Children, Matthew (Gabby) of North Aurora, Jean (James) Waldron of Enterprise OR, Christian (Susan) of Carol Stream, Mary Murphy (Mike) of Carol Stream, Mark (Mhel) of Warrenville, Clare (Kenneth) Cholewa of Berrien Springs MI, Claudia (David) D'Hooge of Glen Ellyn and Joseph (Mila) of Wheaton. 13 Grandchildren. 8 Great-Grandchildren. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Beloved companion to her pets, especially Catherine Ann, Sweetness and Lil. Preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth (Jeffery) Zarndt and her husband of 65 years Lawrence Pekarek.

Services Info: Visitation is Thursday, January 20th from 4-7 PM at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL. 60137.

Funeral Mass, Friday, January 21st, 10:00 AM at St. Matthew's Church, 1555 Glen Ellyn Rd. Glendale Heights, IL.

Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn, IL. A Memorial Service is planned for May/June 2022, date TBA.
