Robert Kopf, Sr. age 87 of Glen Ellyn, IL passed away February 14, 2023. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he was a varsity track athlete at Lower Marion High School and at his alma mater, Penn State University. Married for 48 years, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Bast Kopf and his father and mother Paul Peter Kopf. Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth Tyson Kopf. He is survived by his brother and sister Paul Peter Kopf (Jr.) and Dorothy Agnes Kopf Munns; by his 3 children Robert Kopf, Jr, Paul David Kopf (Michele), and Tad Kopf (Geralyn); and by his grandchildren Samantha, Caroline (Robert), Katharine, Liam and Gwendolyn.
Bob loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, working on his farm in WI, where he hosted a large annual picnic, bird watching, cheering on Penn State football, and following politics.
He served on the vestry of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, was elected to the District 41 school board, and was a Boy Scout troop leader. He was a principal in Phillips & Johnston Inc. and of Lincoln Dimensional. He ended his career as President and owner of Excel Specialty Corporation and National MultiProducts Company.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22 from 4-7 pm beginning with a service at 4 pm at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials made in his name to American Cancer Society, St. Mark’s Church of Glen Ellyn or Iowa County (WI) Humane Society. Robert will be laid to rest at Eastside Cemetery in Dodgeville,WI in a private ceremony to be held at a later date.
