Richard Curtis “Dick” McRoberts of Glenview, formerly of Evanston, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021. He was 92. Devoted husband of 62 years to the late Jannie (nee Norwood); Beloved father of Melissa (Steve) Herbst; Dear grandfather of Cayla, and Stephanie; Adored son of the late Dr. Earl S. McRoberts and the late Margaret (nee Lahr)McRoberts; Loving brother of Marjorie (Paul) Richard, and the late Elizabeth M. (Edward) Binai; and Fond uncle to several nieces and nephews. Born March 28, 1928, Dick grew up in Evanston. He attended Culver Military Academy (Culver, IN), and then graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1947. He went on to receive a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, in 1952. While there, Dick was an active member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After serving four years in the United States Army during the Korean War, he was honorably discharged, but continued military Reserve Status for nearly ten years. In 1958, Dick married his dear “Southern Belle” wife, Jannie Marie. Together, they had one daughter, whom they raised while living in Evanston and Glenview. During this time, he pursued a career in residential real estate, savings and loan, and the title insurance industries. Dick was a knighted member of the Masonic Hesperia Lodge #411 for 63 years, and also enjoyed membership in Kiwanis International. He proudly served on The North Shore Board of Realtors and the Northwest Suburban Realty Board. Dick and Jannie were also active members of the Glenview Community Church for many years. While he enjoyed traveling, some of Dick’s fondest memories took place in Florida, and in Stevensville, MI, while watching many beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan.
Services will be private. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, IL.
