Becky, born on June 7th, 1978, passed away on December 27th with her husband, Bill, at her side.
Becky grew up in Crystal Lake and graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School, where, through dance, pommies, and her vivacious, social nature, she developed friendships that have lasted to this day.
After graduation, Becky attended the University of Kansas, where her intentions to become a business major quickly changed to Art History as she discovered her passion for the Arts. She studied abroad in Florence and Paris with close friends. After graduation, Becky worked for the Super Group in early-stage product innovation. Becky continued her education and earned her Master’s in Communication from Western Michigan University.
Becky spent her early adult life living in Chicago. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and making lifelong friends, including some who are considered family. She met Bill in Chicago and lived there until moving to Glen Ellyn in 2008.
Becky made many wonderful relationships in Glen Ellyn through Newcomers, Music Together, and her children's activities. Becky had a strong sense of community and volunteered in various roles within the D41 school district. Becky was proud to have worked at the Partnership for Educational Partnership, where she helped facilitate grants and scholarships throughout the Glenbard school districts.
Becky’s parents, David and Evelynne Halstead, instilled in her a deep commitment to family, which she brought to her marriage to Bill Parke. From a young age, Becky spent many holidays and vacations with her extended family. Her favorite tradition, which still stands, was an annual trip to Kiawah Island, S.C. Becky’s greatest love was her two children, Gabi and Emmett. She found true joy in ensuring their happiness, health, and strong character.
Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023. She had a long journey of various treatments and therapies. The Parke and Halstead families would like to thank Becky’s friends, new and old, who consistently reached out to ensure that Becky knew she was loved and supported. You have a special place in our hearts.
Becky is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; her cherished children, Gabi and Emmett; her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends who loved her deeply.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Becky to donate to the Partnership for Educational Progress. Online at PEPglenbard.org/Donate or by mail 596 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
