Raymond V. Hartman, 85, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. Born on July 7,1940, in Chicago, Illinois, Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, coworker and friend.
Ray graduated from Loyola University, juris doctorate, and spent over 40 years working in corporate taxes highlighted by over 20 years with Beatrice Foods. He was known for his integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his colleagues and staff. He doted on his kids and grandkids, attending as many of their events as possible. Outside of work and family, Ray enjoyed tennis (back in the day), traveling (especially to Charleston), cheering and supporting his grandkids, model trains and dabbling in stocks.
Ray was also a longtime parishioner, CCD teacher, treasurer and active member at St. Petronille in Glen Ellyn, IL before retiring to Villa St. Benedictine in Lisle, becoming a popular and loved resident.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean; his children, Chuck (Judy), Brian (Judy), Joe (Karen) and Rebecca (Jeff); and his ten grandchildren, Cameron, Helena, Evan, Tim, Samantha, Jason, Patrick, Max, Drew and Ryan and brother Robert (Margaret). He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Helen Hartman.
Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Villa St. Benedictine, 1920 Maple Avenue in Lisle, IL and Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Villa St. Benedictine to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Foundation.
Ray will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. He has left this world, but not without enriching those around him.
