Paul Bando Obituary

Paul W. Bando, age 88 of Glen Ellyn, IL was born on February 11, 1935, and passed away on September 24, 2023, of natural causes. Paul died peacefully at his son’s home in Downers Grove, IL, surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born to William and Gladys Bando in Manistique, MI, and grew up in Berkeley, MI where he graduated from Berkeley High School.  This is where he met his lifelong love and best friend, Sally Grisinger (deceased 2013), who later became his wife. Paul attended Michigan State University in Lansing MI. He majored in Business and enjoyed being a member of the baseball team. Paul was a member of Alpha Tau Omega, his fraternity brothers, especially in the Chicagoland area, have been his lifelong friends.

Paul and Sally were married on August 12, 1960, at the Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield Hills, MI. They settled in Birmingham MI, and Paul worked for A.J. Miller Inc, in Royal Oak, MI. Paul took a position in the company in 1964 in the Chicago area and moved to Glen Ellyn, IL. Paul and Sally’s new neighbor, Bill and Lois Bucha quickly became close life long friends. They enjoyed many ski trips, Thanksgivings and Christmas dinners together. Later Paul would start his own Sprinkler Irrigation and design company. Paul enjoyed playing golf, skiing, and tennis. Paul also enjoyed winters in Naples, FL, and listening to jazz.

Paul’s biggest love was his alma-mater, Michigan State. He proudly supported his green and white every Saturday during football season and during basketball season in the winter months, which was later passed on to his son, grandson, and extended family. He was a fixture in the Glen Ellyn community, regularly seen at Glenbard West athletic events and neighborhood gatherings. Paul enjoyed raising money for the Ed Posh College Scholarship Fund.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Molly Ferrari, his son Matthew (Saba), his two grandchildren, Gianno (Paola) and Zain and four great-grandchildren, Andrea, Sophia, Gianno III, and Valentina.
