Obituary

1933 – 2021

Born and Raised in Oak Park Illinois, Nancy graduated from Oak Park River Forest High school in 1951.  She attended Denison University where she majored in math and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.  Nancy married Robert C. Pole Jr. in 1955 (also from Oak Park and attending Denison) and moved to Glen Ellyn Illinois to raiser her family.  After losing her Husband in 1991, she met and married Michael Hopkins in 1993 and was happily married for 28 years.

Nancy is survived by her husband Mike Hopkins; her children Cynthia (Larry Bertsch) Pole Bertsch, Robert C (Pamela) Pole III; Stepdaughter Laurie (David Plumb) Hopkins Plumb; Grandchildren Grace Bertsch, Jeffrey Ragsdale, Kevin Ragsdale, Robert C. Pole IV, Alexander J. Pole, Andrew (Vanesa) S. Pole; James (Jamie)  Plumb; Stacey (Philip) Plumb Handal, Michelle (Marcus) Plumb Berkland; Great grandchildren Nicholas, Natalie, and Lucas Plumb, Smiley and Poppy Pole; Jude and Jaxon Plumb Berkland, William and Elizabeth Plumb Handal.

Nancy was a lifelong bridge player, loved her daily crossword, was a member of First Congregational Church in Glen Ellyn since 1960, had a successful Real-estate career and lived to spend time at her family home on Corey Lake in Three Rivers Michigan. Nancy loved to “fill the house” with family and friends and introduce new people to her beloved Corey Lake.

Her life was filled with a positive attitude that helped her and others enjoy each other and look forward to the next time they can visit.  Her smile and engaging personality will be missed by many.  In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to make a donation to YMCA Camp Eberhart on Corey Lake in Three Rivers Michigan (269-244-5125 &office@ymcacampeberhart.org)
