Naida G. Tracey nee: Spicer, 90, of Glen Ellyn. Wife of Richard A. Tracey. Mother of Daniel Tracey, Brian Tracey (Karen) and for Erin Tracey Jenner (James). Grandmother of Brandon Tracey (Korley), Ryan Tracey, Colleen Blane (Drew) and Sean Jenner (Kelsey). Great Grandmother of Kaia Tracey. Daughter of the late Ethel Gellert Spicer.
She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in 1952 and she made some of the recipes she learned in her high school Home Economics class throughout her life.
She became a bank teller at The Northern Trust in the Chicago Loop until she married at the age of 22 on July 13, 1956 to Richard ‘Dick’ Tracey and continued to live in Chicago until February of 1967. Although she never had a driver’s license, she knew how to get around her beloved Chicago via public transportation. After the great blizzard of 1967, Naida and Dick moved to Glen Ellyn, IL.
During her time in Glen Ellyn, Naida was the evening hostess at Ki’s Restaurant in Glendale Heights for 19 years. Afterwards, she continued her working career at the Village Stationers for 4 years then she retired to assist with and enjoy her grandchild. Being a ‘granny’ was her favorite job of all, after being a mom.
As a grandmother, she attended dance recitals, baseball games, park district activities, school events, graduations, weddings (2 in person/1 via FaceTime) and loved a good game of Uno. She was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan until the end and lived to see them win a World Series in 2016.
