Monika Klasing, age 84 of Glen Ellyn, passed away on November 17, 2025, surrounded by her family in her home. She was the amazing wife of Robert for 59 wonderful years. The most loving mother of Mara (late Bob) Little and Lara Klasing (Joe Hurter). Awesome Oma to Larisa, Gianna, Annisa and Robert Little. Dear sister of Ivar (Donna) Azeris, Agnes (J.B.) Wood. Aunt of Adam & Ehren Azeris and Chelsea & Lacey Wood. Preceeded in death by her loving parents Dr. Harry & Lucy Azeris.
Monika was born in Riga, Latvia on September 5, 1941. She came to the USA in 1951 with her parents and family. She lived in various places throughout the United States during her life. She earned a teaching degree from Eastern Illinois University, majoring in German and History. She married the love of her life Robert James Klasing on May 28, 1966 in Springfield, IL. She went back to school and got her RN Degree working as a nurse in doctors’ offices, hospitals, nursing homes, and later as a case worker. She enjoyed being outside, working in the yard and gardening. Her Latvian roots were very present and strong in her life, participating in various Latvian cultures and traditions.
