Mary Ann V. Hall of Wheaton, IL passed away on January 26, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.

Born August 3, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Marion McCluskey Velie and Alton C. Velie. She graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth in 1950, and in 1952, Mary Ann married her soulmate and loving husband of 66 years, Lawrence “Larry” DeWitt Hall (1927-2019). 

Although the couple shared many adventures, their greatest joy came from their six children: Coleen (Fred) Hall-Schuster, Lawrence A. (Virginia) Hall, Mary Kay Lowry, Audrey (Gary) Swanson, Patty (John) Smith, and the late George Hall (1961-1987), twelve grandchildren: David (Moriah) Hall, Kristen Hall, Christina (Brian) Neltner, Amanda (Adam) Jacob, Melinda (David) Dinsmore, Casandra (Brandon) Mitchell, Juliana (Matt) Cripe, Alicia Lowry, Jonathon (Priscilla) Smith, Sean (Kimberly) Smith, Lynn Smith, and Neal (Heather) Smith, and twelve great grandchildren: Daphne Neltner, Jackson Dinsmore, Kannon Mitchell, Knox Mitchell, Alexandra Mitchell, Eleanor Mitchell,  Braxton Cripe, Savannah Alsip, Scarlett Alsip, Lola Smith, Finn Smith, and Arlo Smith.

In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Mary Ann is survived by her brother Al (Janice) Velie, Larry’s sisters Nancy Roddy and Doris Hammer, twenty nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and close friends. Mary Ann was predeceased by her sisters Joan Yvonne (Ted) Stier and Jeannette (Kody) Kodoma and Larry’s sister Janet Thrasher. 

She will be remembered for her faith, kindness, generosity, humor, friendship, love of life, and bright smile.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 11th at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church in Wheaton, IL.  Memorial contributions can be made in Mary Ann's name to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls (mercyhome.org).
