Linda Marie Felton
August 24, 1964 ~ December 6, 2023 (age 59) 59 Years Old
Linda Marie Felton, Beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter & Sister
Linda Marie Felton, of Glen Ellyn, died peacefully in her home the morning of December 6, 2023, at 59 years old.
Linda was born the youngest of three sisters to Larry and Darlene McKinney on August 24, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa. Linda graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and moved to Chicago to pursue a career using her artistic talents. Linda was free-spirited and creative and met Eric, the youngest of three brothers, while working at Arthur Andersen as a Graphic Designer. They fell in love, bonding over a shared value of family and a passion for adventure and travel. Eric proposed to Linda at the Adler Planetarium, with the city’s skyline as a backdrop. Their 33-year union was filled with adventures, spanning the globe from safari expeditions in Africa to traversing the Andes together. Linda and Eric raised their three children in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, shuttling the kids between hockey rinks, field hockey and lacrosse fields, and piano recitals. They spent summers with Eric’s family in Diamond Lake, Michigan, where all of Eric’s family would gather to spend evenings on the pontoon. Eric & Linda spent recent years in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where they both embraced a mountain life of skiing and hiking.
Linda’s infectious laughter, knowing smile, and beautiful voice would light up any room, warming anyone’s heart she encountered. She was sincere and thoughtful and never used sarcasm as she believed it was the lowest form of humor. She had a rare talent for telling flat jokes that would still leave everyone laughing. Her artistic talents knew no bounds, from dreamy impressionist oil paintings to sophisticated interior designs. However, her most cherished role was that of an unwaveringly supportive and loving mother to her three children, Juliet, Elijah and Jared. Linda made daily routines feel special and spontaneous, showering her children and friends with thoughtful gestures. She was very spunky and fiercely independent, always questioning convention and debating new ideas.
Eric & Linda’s home was infused with Linda’s artistic creativity, with objects carefully sourced from antique markets and an uncompromising attention to intricate details. She was passionate about making their homes into a special place; it was one of her love languages.
Linda's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Eric, and their children, Juliet, Elijah, and Jared. She also leaves behind her parents, Larry and Darlene McKinney; her mother-in-law, Anne Felton; her sisters, Carolyn (Kevin) Whitford and Joni McKinney; two brothers-in-law, Barry (Edie) Felton and Duane (Kim) Felton; 12 nieces and nephews and three great-nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends that became family. She is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Felton.
In honoring Linda's memory, a visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, from 1 PM until 4 PM at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane Street in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, followed by a memorial service at 4 PM.
The arrangements have been entrusted to Leonard Memorial Funeral Home. For more information, please contact Leonard Memorial Funeral Home at (630) 469-0032.
