Leo V. Sage, 91, of Glen Ellyn passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Loving husband of Louise for 48 years. Proud father of Michael (Amanda Serpico) Sage. Loving grandfather of Milana, Alessia, and Serena. Son of the late Leo and Marie Sage. Fond brother in law of Ted (Diane) Rzeszewski, and uncle to Ted, Alan and the late Dana.
Leo was born in Chicago on September 5, 1933. He attended St. Ignatius High School and Loyola University, two institutions which built the foundation of his faith and introduced him to life long friends. After college, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. His fondest memories were traveling around Europe. After the Army, he spent most of his long career at an educational publishing company in River Forest.
In 1967 he met Louise at a dance in Chicago. Ten years later, they tied the knot, and on their one year wedding anniversary, they welcomed their son Michael. Leo relished in fatherhood, and as Michael grew, he spent many hours coaching him in baseball and basketball. As they both got older, they enjoyed spending time together on the golf course or at a baseball game.
During his retirement years, he was fortunate to spend time traveling the world with Louise through most of Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Australia, and Tahiti. When not traveling, he adored spending time with his granddaughters and playing golf at the Village Links.
Throughout his life, he was an avid Chicago Blackhawks and White Sox fan, holding season tickets to both. He had many friends who would describe him as a caring and compassionate person, whom they could rely on in a time of need. He will be sorely missed, but remembered fondly.
