Laurel “Jacky” Duprey nee Reddy, a long-time resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away Thursday, the 22nd of December at her home with her girls by her side.
Jacky was born June 29, 1931 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She grew up in Chicago living for a time behind her grandfather's violin shop. She attended Precious Blood school while living on Van Buren Street and met her future husband in the neighborhood. When she was 14, she moved with her maternal grandmother, mother and sister to Glen Ellyn.
She attended Glenbard West high school and graduated in the class of 1948. After graduation she started her career as an executive secretary to the vice president of V. Mueller and Company.
In 1953, Jacky married Jim Duprey and moved to Chicago's south side. They enjoyed 14 years of marriage before welcoming their first child. In 1974, they moved to Glen Ellyn where they lived for the rest of their lives. Jacky stayed at home while raising their daughters and was a frequent volunteer with Brownie troops and the Abraham Lincoln school library. As her daughters got older, she rejoined the workforce becoming a receptionist for AIG.
Jacky was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who loved dogs, flowers, cooking, puzzles, playing games and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Duprey (d '89).
Loving mother of Laurie (Walter) Carney and Lisa (Kevin) Klank. Cherished grandmother of Mason Klank. Beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews and sister of the late Ruth (Fred) Havrila.
Visitation is Thursday, December 29th from 4-8 PM with a service at 7 PM at Leonard Funeral Home, 565 Duane St. Glen Ellyn. Interment Friday 10 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
