Juliet “Julie” Geiersbach (nee Jacobson) passed away on May 22, 2025 at the age of 91.
Dear wife of the late Richard “Dick” Geiersbach, loving mother of Jill Geiersbach, Jack Geiersbach and Robin (Wesley) Douglas, proud grandmother of Christopher Geiersbach, Spencer Douglas and Jordan (Caitlin) Geiersbach, beloved grandmother of Zoey and Maxwell Geiersbach, daughter of the late Solomon and Margaret (nee Messinger) Jacobson, loving sister of Dr. Richard Jacobson and the late Shirley Mann, aunt of Eileen (Marc) Jacobs, David Mann and the late Douglas Mann, great aunt of Dr. Brian (Brooke) Jacobs and Michael (Stacie) Jacobs, cousin and friend.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Julie was born on August 27, 1933, and grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. She was a proud graduate of Hyde Park High School and was a true piano virtuoso. She attended Roosevelt University where she met Dick. She married Dick in 1955 and they made their home in Glen Ellyn, IL where they raised their 3 children in their home next door to Dick’s parents, the late Frank and Elsie Geiersbach. She worked in the financial sector in Chicago prior to getting married, then after the children were in school, for her father’s snack food equipment business, and also worked in the mortgage industry. She was interviewed as a guest on “The Stock Market Observer” on WCIU-TV, channel 26, hosted by Jack Taylor.
Julie was instrumental in building the Volunteer program at Central DuPage Hospital after its opening in 1964. She was awarded a “Life Governor” for her 25+ years of volunteer service. Along with Dr. Andrew Bregman, Julie founded ICEF, The Ileitis and Colitis Educational Foundation. After many years of helping those in need of education on these diseases, the foundation was so well regarded that with Julie’s blessing, CDH then took it over to make it part of their Center for Gastrointestinal Diseases and retained her as an advisor.
Julie’s biggest passions were music, especially jazz, playing the piano, needlepoint, bowling and traveling with Dick to many of the snack food industry expositions around the country. She was an avid Cubs fan and her biggest joy was seeing them win the 2016 World Series. She also proudly told stories of meeting such notables as Presidents Reagan and Ford, and actors Liza Minelli, Jerry Lewis and others.
