Joyce Elaine Ursin (nee Krogen) peacefully passed away on May 26, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Donald, her parents Earl and Dorothy Krogen, her brother Roger Krogen and sister, Kay Krogen. She will be greatly missed by her family including children Steve (Terry) Ursin, Lauren Heffernan, Karin (John Hunter) Ursin, Kris (Gary) Stenstrom as well as grandchildren Mike, Dan, Rebecca, Kate, Nick, Mason, Paul, Ellen and Amanda, and 9 great grandchildren Ben, James, Bodie, Weston, Eleanor, Claire, Robby, Ariella and Natalie Joyce.
Joyce grew up in the small town of Jefferson, WI, graduated as Valedictorian of her high school and attended the University of Wisconsin on a full music scholarship. She met Don there and thus began 61 years of devoted marriage. They moved to Glen Ellyn in 1960 and built their house on Stephanie Lane in 1969, where Joyce had lived ever since.
Joyce was a woman of remarkable strength, self-sacrifice and kindness defined by her devotion to her loved ones. She was reserved and humble, regularly putting others before herself. Joyce was known for her hospitality and enjoyed hosting many family gatherings at their Powers Lake home for 25 years. She was an attentive card writer, sending birthday, anniversary, and Christmas cards to all family and friends. Her formidable mental acuity was showcased in her uncanny memory and knack for details. On any given day, she could tell you the price of any grocery store item at the Jewel down the road! Her alto voice and excellent musical ear bolstered the church choir for over 60 years, and her presence was also appreciated in the Tri Delta sorority and PEO clubs for many years. Joyce appreciated all things Badger Red, gardening, and chocolate. Above all, Joyce encouraged, supported, and deeply loved her family.
