Joseph Chiovari, 87, beloved husband of Virginia “Virg” Chiovari, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023. He was born in 1935 and raised in Chicago, a graduate of Cooley High School followed by a successful career in printing. Joe was a loving husband to his wife of 70 years. He was a devoted family man and friend, lifelong Chicago sports fan, enjoyed gardening and fishing, playing poker, reading, crossword puzzles, vacationing, eating and spending time with his family. Joe was known for his loyalty, quick wit, gentle humor, and could always put a smile on everyone’s face.
Survived by his wife, Virg, his two children, Ginger (Steven) Christiansen and Joseph (Tracy) Chiovari; grandchildren, Shannon (Sean) Clements, Cally (Angelo) Cavallino, Carli (Matthew) Hyde, Joseph (fiancé Alaina “Ali”) Chiovari; sixcherished great-grandchildren; Zachary & Delaney Clements, Giada & Mekaela Cavallino and Rose & Rocco Hyde, his brother and best friend Richard (Sue) Chiovari and sister MaryJane (Fred) Galati and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph & Jennie Chiovari.
Visitation will be held at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St, Glen Ellyn, on Thursday July 20 from 9 am–noon.
