Joseph C. Cherney

Joseph Cherney age 82 of Glen Ellyn. Beloved husband of the late Linda Cherney. Loving Father of Carrie (Dean) Coppe and Ryan Cherney. Devoted Grandfather of Rachael and Reese Coppe and James Cherney. Dearest son of the late Jerome and Jean Cherney. Brother of the late Sonny (Jackie) Cherney, Robert (Jeannine) Cherney, the late Sherwood Cherney, Francis (MaryAnn) Cherney, and Marcine Hinton.

Joseph’s greatest blessing and source of happiness was his wife, Linda. He was a loving and supportive father, and his biggest joy was being Papa. 

Joseph took great pride in sharing stories of his travels and experiences while serving in the U.S. Navy. He dedicated his career to the family business as a professional painter, taking great pride in his work. He was always willing to lend his expertise to those in need. 

In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Joseph found great joy in the simple pleasures of life- spending time fishing in Michigan, listening to the Cub’s games on WGN, tending to his vegetable garden, and feeding the neighborhood birds. He enjoyed a root beer float, while relaxing with a Hallmark movie. Joe’s biggest joy was his grandchildren, whom he shared a special bond. He especially loved making them laugh, cherishing every moment spent bringing them happiness.
