John G. Whiting, 79, of Glen Ellyn. Beloved son of Gloria Rosenwald and stepson of Robert Rosenwald. John was preceded in death by brother Gerald Gilbert Whiting. John is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Keirn, and their treasured sons: Max (Corvin), Samuel (Kelsey), and James (Joanna). He is also survived by his sister, Pam (Pat) Ciervo, and his cherished grandchildren: Remy, Valerie, Devin, Kai, Grayson, Ila, Noah, and Lennox.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, John attended Drexel University and built a successful career in IT project management. In 1986, the Whiting family relocated to Glen Ellyn, IL, where John continued to thrive in his profession until his retirement. John's greatest joy came from raising his three sons and the countless adventures they shared, including memorable trips to the Jersey Shore.
An accomplished musician, he enjoyed playing both the banjo and guitar. In retirement, John and Sharon dedicated their time to teaching STEM subjects at their grandchildren’s elementary school, sharing their passion for learning. He also loved playing tennis and staying active at the gym.
John took great pride in his indigenous heritage, which played a significant role in shaping his identity and values throughout his life.
