John Weis, 63, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2026.
John is survived by Jennifer Weis, his former spouse and beloved partner, whose love and companionship remained a central part of his life; his dear children, Claire Weis, Alexander Weis, and Matthew Weis; his sisters, Vicki Mesa (Bill), Sharron Catania (Ron), and Susan Barker (Michael); his loving aunt Pam Davis, uncles Bob Weis, and Daniel Weis, his nieces, Lindsay Pelham (Javi), Emily Schweitzer (Stefan), and Gina Catania, and his nephew, Christian Catania (Maddie); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Abby, Lily, Leo, Harry, Antonio, Tula and Kay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Patricia Weis, and loving aunt Linda Wojtanowski.
John was born on October 7, 1962, in Hammond, Indiana, to Gerald and Patricia Weis. He grew up in the Hessville neighborhood and graduated from Morton High School in 1981. He went on to attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, graduating in 1985 and serving as a member of the Triangle Fraternity.
John spent his entire professional career with FM (Factory Mutual Insurance Company), where he worked as an Assistant Vice President, Senior Account Engineering Specialist. He was dedicated to his work and built lasting relationships with colleagues throughout the years. He also cherished the lifelong friendships he maintained with his fraternity brothers.
John lived by the Scout Oath and Law with his daily dedication to God, service, mentorship and leadership. He served as an Assistant Scout Master (ASM), Chartered Organization Representative, achieved Brotherhood rank in the Order of the Arrow (OA), and enjoyed working with the Scouts as a Merit Badge Counselor on over 10 topics. He also earned the prestigious Grand Slam of National High Adventure Award by completing all four BSA High Adventure Bases.
He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears and enjoyed sharing his passion for Chicago sports with family and friends. He also had a passion for the outdoors, history, classical music, and film.
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fraternity brothers, the scouting community he so valued, and all who knew him.

Visitation from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 06, 2026 at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 and Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 07, 2026 at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 480 S. Park Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery.
