John B. Whyte

John Burnett Whyte, age 85, of Glen Ellyn, IL, son of the late John and Mary (Propernick) Whyte, passed away with his family by his side on August 24, 2023.  John was the loving husband to wife Marilyn of 62 years, beloved father to Jeff (Christy), Todd (Heather) and Mike (Julie Ferry), and cherished grandfather to Jack (23), Thomas (20), Hailey (19) and Katie (19).  

A proud family man and Scotsman, John was always out on the sports fields of Glen Ellyn coaching and watching his kids and grandkids play their sports.  He was an avid golfer playing courses around the Chicagoland area especially The Village Links of Glen Ellyn. He graduated Marmion Military Academy class of '56 and Western Illinois University, BS in Education, class of '60.

Friends and family may call from 5-8 pm Tuesday, September 12 at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday September 13 at St. James The Apostle Church, 480 S. Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

The family extends their sincere gratitude and thanks to the doctors and staff at Northwestern Medicine Cancer Center, Central DuPage Hospital, DuPage Care Center and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care that was given to John and his family during this time.
