John Archer Obituary

John Quincy Archer, a beloved member of the Glen Ellyn community, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Fern Archer, along with his brother Thomas. 

John is survived by his wife Janet, his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Mary, Nick, Peggy, Joe, Julie, and many nieces, nephews and their respective families.

He will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, enduring wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

John had a remarkable gift for giving back to his community through his art and impactful initiatives. In the early 1980s, he played a pivotal role in developing local soccer teams, leaving a lasting impression on many young, aspiring players. His efforts not only nurtured a love for the sport but also provided opportunities for personal growth and lifelong friendships.

John’s legacy continues through a special scholarship at the local high school, generously established by a family profoundly touched by his contributions. This annual tribute honors his dedication to the community and inspires future generations. His family takes great pride in being part of the enduring legacy he leaves behind in Glen Ellyn.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate John’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Saint Petronille Catholic Church, 420 Glenwood Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL. A reception with food and fellowship will follow in the Parish Center adjacent to the church.
