Jerome “Jerry” Jaye, 87, of Wheaton, IL passed away peacefully on November 5th with loved ones present. He was born in East Chicago, IN on March 4, 1938 to Harry and Josephine Jakuboski (nee Ostrowski).
Beloved husband to Mary Greiff Jaye for over 40 years and loving father to Susan (Kevin) Jeffrey, Laurie (Keenan) Heeley, James (Christy), Jill Jaye and Jason (Andrea) from his first marriage.
He had 17 Grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Jessica, Nicole, Tyler, Jacob, Nate, Camille, Chantelle, Madison, Landon, Emerson, Madeline, Rylan and Avery. He was preceded in death by two Grandsons, Joshua and Compton. He had 21 Great-Grandchildren, Chase, Lizzy, Lilly, Matthew, Adela, Ellie, Payton, Hilton, Ella, Kaylee, Kamden, Evren, Sunny, Scottie, Anthony, Robert, Alexander, Oaklee, Savannah, Londyn and Brooklyn.
He enjoyed living his life to the fullest. He became a private pilot with a commercial rating. He and Mary would get up on many weekend mornings, go to DuPage Airport get in the plane and fly somewhere for breakfast and come home. They flew several trips to visit family out of state. He even took aerobatic flying lessons. He road motorcycles going across the Country. He and Mary spent many vacations skiing in Cananda, Colorado, Idaho, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan and Wyoming. Loved to tavel throught Canada and especially Europe.
He worked at Commonwealth Edison from 1959 until his early retirement in 1994. His last job was with the Environmental Affairs Dept.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary, his children Susan, Laurie, Jim, Jill and Jason, grandchildren, great Grandchildren, his Brother Bob (Jane) Jacobs, Brother-in-law John (Nancy) Greiff and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and two grandsons Joshua and Compton.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jerry on November 22, 2025 at the Leonard Funeral Home, Glen Ellyn starting at 12:00 pm with a Christian Service beginning at 3:30 pm. For more information on the arrangements please call (630) 469-0032.
