Son of the late Herman & the late Roberta (McKinney) Taylor. Brother of Martha (Charlie) Toth. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jim was born on January 19, 1930 in Canton, NY to Herman & Roberta (McKinney) Taylor. He grew up in Canton and attended New York State Agricultural & Technical Institute. He then served four years in the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he met and married Jean. They went on to have a wonderful seventy-year marriage.
His career included working for Bell Telephone, General Electric, The Illinois Central Railroad, and Harmon Electronics. His career carried him and his family from Potsdam, NY to Lynchburg, VA, Sandy Springs, GA, Hazel Crest, IL, Tinley Park, IL, and finally to Lombard, IL, where he and Jean have resided at the Beacon Hill Retirement Center.
He had many loves in life, including snow skiing (where he won many amateur medals), golf (where he was a Club Champion at Calumet Country Club), photography (winner of many awards for his pictures), and playing gin rummy, poker, and pool with his buddies. In his later years, he took up Wii bowling and golf, where he won the Beacon Hill bowling league. He loved meeting people and was a friend to all he met.
He was a devoted husband and loving family man who was at his happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He loved attending his sons’ and grandsons’ events and was always in the bleachers for their sports. He was a shining example of putting his family first and because of him, this has been carried on through to future generations of his family.
He will be missed by his family and friends, all who feel lucky to have known him. All in all, it was a wonderful 95-year life well lived.
