James Higgins

James W. Higgins, age 85, from Glen Ellyn, IL, and most recently Venice, FL, passed away on May 19th, 2021.  Jim was the beloved husband of 49 years to the late Nancy L. Higgins, and long-time dear companion of Susie Lennertz (nee Paine).  He was the loving patriarch and adored father of Julie Kolzow, Jeannine (Dan) Meyo, Jim (Sandy) and Joe (Scott). He was the devoted Papa of Kerri, Katie, Kristy, Danny, Jen, Ben, and Tommy; and cherished great grandfather of Charlie. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Gertrude Higgins; his sister Joyce Sennett (Al), and brother Jack Higgins, brother and sister-in-laws Jack and Nancy Lancaster, brother in-law Larry Hoffman, and his niece Muffy Chrysler.  He is survived by his loving sister Joanne Pins (d., Arnold); treasured sister-in-laws Lois Hoffman, Cecilia Higgins, and Jeanne Edwards; extended family Amy, Erik, Steve, Casey, and Louie.  He was a fun-loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Jim was a man of strong faith and family, with a love for life, sports, playing golf, games of any kind, family vacations, and Glenbard West High School.  He was a great joke teller and an even better storyteller.  He retired from Morgan Stanley after a long and successful career as a stockbroker.  Jim will be missed by everyone who knew him.  Visitation Friday May 28th, 3 to 8 p.m., at the Leonard Memorial Home, Ltd., 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. Funeral Mass, Saturday May 29th, 9:30a.m. at St. Petronille Catholic Church, Glen Ellyn. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.
