James R. Ferrell

James R. Ferrell, 81, a Glen Ellyn resident over 75 years. James was born on December 31, 1941 and passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2023. Son of Loraine and Marion Ferrell; brother of Robert, Dorothy and William Ferrell. James was the dedicated surrogate father of Mindy, Todd and Wesley Gutzmer. Devoted uncle to Fawn, Brian, Timothy, Michelle and Yvonne. Great-uncle to Drew, Jenna, Nathan, Rose and Sadie. 

Jim loved a good lawn and working in various gardens throughout his yard. He took a number of horticultural classes at Morton Arboretum. 

Jim had a good heart, often helping people in need, sometimes providing food and lodging if needed.
