Helen Holmgren

Helen Holmgren age 99 of Glen Ellyn, IL passed away February 19, 2023.  She was born and raised on a farm Medford, WI and after completing high school moved to Chicago, IL and later to Franklin Park, IL where she raised her family. Married for 49 years, she was preceded in death by her husband Bruno Holmgren, father and mother Otto and Mary Erl, siblings Ann, Frank, Walter and Lucille and daughter Lori.  She is survived by her son Robert (Joan), grandchildren Jillian and Jason, and great grandchild Carter (Jason).

Helen was a stay-at-home mother to raise her children and when they were grown, she worked as a school librarian for 12 years until retiring. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews and their children.

A memorial for Helen and her daughter Lori will be Thursday, March 16th from 3PM to 6PM at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL. Helen and her daughter Lori will be laid to rest at Mary Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL in a private ceremony to be held at a later date.
