Guy D'Amico

Guy D’Amico, 66, formerly of Glen Ellyn passed away on June 20, 2021 after a short but brave fight with brain cancer.  He was surrounded with family and friends and never lost his wonderful sense of humor. The loving husband of Kathi (nee: Kowal) for 45 years.  Caring father of Carl & Mary D’Amico. Dear son of the late Michael & late Lucille D’Amico. Fond brother of Michele (Dominic) Blando & the late Elizabeth D’Amico. Beloved uncle of Bradley (Alicia) Hillesheim, KC (SueAnn) Kowal, Matthew Kowal, Caroline (Ryan) Wojciechowski & the late Lauren Kowal. Great uncle of Michael & Nathan Hillesheim and Cole Kowal, and a friend to numerous cousins.

Guy served for 22 years as a volunteer Firefighter with the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company, retiring as Assistant Chief in 2004.  He continued with his passion for fire protection working independently for W.S. Darley selling fire equipment. Guy also loved working part time at The Morton Arboretum as a security ranger. He was a very involved coach for various sports that his kids participated in from little leagues to adult drinking leagues. In a house full of dog lovers, he tolerated the family dogs, Dixie, Aster, Vinny & Jameo.

Guy’s happy place was any where he could drive his Can-Am Spyder. Whether just a short ride through Naperville or a road trip with his friends.

Guy taught his family many life lessons, the most important being work hard, be respectful, selfless, and spend a lot of time with family. He will be remembered most for his strong will, crazy sense of humor, and knack for selfies.

Visitation for Guy will be on Friday, June 25th,  at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 (www.leonardmemorialhome.com / 630-469-0032) from 3-8 PM with a fire department walkthrough service at 7. Interment will be private.
