Elizabeth M. Zuniga

Elizabeth Zuniga nee: Mahoney, age 68, of Wheaton. Beloved wife of Rafael. Loving mother Rosemary Zuniga (Kevin), Francisco Zuniga, Alexander Zuniga & Thomas Zuniga. Dear daughter of the late Marjorie Locke and the late Harry Mahoney. Dearest sister of the late Paul (Janelle) Mahoney, Matthew (Sara) Mahoney, Sarah (Craig) Antas. Fond aunt and cousin of many. 

Elizabeth was an amazing mother and wife. She lived life with the kindest and most loving soul. She dearly loved animals and especially her beloved dog Bella who passed away three years ago and Ruby who will miss her terribly, also the two “Grandkitties”. 

Elizabeth was born in San Jose, CA then grew up in Mexico City and Pretoria South Africa while her father worked for the CIA before moving to Washington, DC. She attended Elmhurst University and received a degree including honors in Child Psychology. She was a devoted nurse for many years after becoming a RN through Ravenswood Hospital School of Nursing and later she worked with geriatric patients. Prior to pursuing her nursing career she attended Roosevelt University for paralegal studies. She spent her time being a caregiver to her entire family including her parents and her aunt and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. Outside of her family life and career nursing, she fondly was a child of the 60’s and attended Woodstock in August of 1969.

She loved to garden and was passionate about her plants. 

Memorial visitation at 12 pm to 1 pm on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. A Memorial Service at 1 pm to 2 pm and all are welcome to stay for an hour of visitation after the service.
