Cynthia Cervone Obituary

Cynthia Cervone, 82, a 47-year resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023. She was active in the Glen Ellyn community as a volunteer for many years at the Treasure House, which benefits Metropolitan Family Services DuPage. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs in the area. She also enjoyed playing golf at The Links with friends and family.

Cynthia remained in close contact with extended family in Ohio as an officer and board member of Colonial Village Realty Company, a family-owned real estate investment company founded by her grandfather in the 1950s in Sandusky, Ohio. Her son, Scott, has taken over those responsibilities for her.

Cynthia was also active in other business ventures over the years as an officer and board member of SC Enterprises, an LLC, which owned and operated The Chicken Works, a restaurant and college student hangout at the University of Illinois, in Champaign; and as a general partner of PGC Properties, that owned residential rental property for several years at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Travel with family and friends was a frequent enjoyment for Cynthia, making several trips to European countries as well as spending many winter months in Florida and the Palm Springs area of Southern California. She always made sure that there was a guest room available for family members and friends who wanted to take a break from the cold weather up north.

Cynthia is predeceased by her son, Brad; her brother, Warren Williams, of Cleveland; and her sister, Ann Nelson, of San Diego. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joe; and her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kathy, of Elburn.

Donations in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Her services will be private. Arrangements are by Leonard Funeral Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn.
