Charlotte Weber Obituary

Charlotte Helene Weber (née Haeussler), loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 10, 2025.

Charlotte was born and raised in Baden-Baden, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Helene Haeussler.

Charlotte and her future husband, Roland Weber, met and began dating while working at the same bank in Germany. Charlotte wanted to experience life in the United States and immigrated here in 1958, arriving in Chicago to live with a family friend from Germany. Though she wasn’t necessarily planning to be in the U.S. permanently, Charlotte sponsored Roland’s immigration in 1959, “because he didn’t want her to get away.” They were married in Chicago in May 1960 and settled in Glen Ellyn, IL in 1974 with their three sons. Charlotte was proud to earn her U.S. citizenship in November 1981 (and Roland in May 1982).

After raising their sons, Charlotte continued to love and nurture young children as a beloved preschool teacher. For 15 years she served at the Ark Preschool, a ministry of Glen Ellyn Covenant Church, where she was a long-time member. Upon retirement, Charlotte traveled extensively with Roland, including numerous trips internationally and in her role as “Omi,” enthusiastically attending sports, recitals, concerts, birthdays, and graduations for her seven grandchildren in Illinois and Delaware.

Charlotte was a talented and prolific creator, crocheting afghans and baby blankets, crafting hundreds of Christmas decorations and ornaments, and completing various wall hangings and stained-glass projects to beautify her and Roland’s home. She also surrounded herself with flowers and plants inside and outside of the house, and always enjoyed visiting gardens and arboretums, both locally and abroad.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her sister, Liselotte “Lilo” Meier-Düber (Haeussler).

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roland; her sons and their wives, Marcus and Susanne Weber, Dominic and Beth Weber, and Arnie and Kandace Weber; her grandchildren, Rachel Rice, Andrea Low, Kendra Weber, Kelly Berkompas, Jaime Le, Scott Weber, and Aaron Weber; and five great grandchildren: Matthew, Caroline, John, Marien, and Oliver.

A service to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, 11:00 am, at Glen Ellyn Covenant Church, 277 Hawthorne Blvd, Glen Ellyn, IL, 60137, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Charlotte may be made by mail or online to The Ark Preschool in care of Glen Ellyn Covenant Church. Please note Charlotte’s name with your gift.
