Obituary

Bob “Hammer” Hammerschmidt, age 92. Formerly of Elmhurst & Glen Ellyn and currently of Wheaton. Beloved husband of Beverly for 67 years. Dearest son of the late Dorothy & late Martin. Dear brother of the late Martin & the late Elizabeth McIntyre. Fond uncle of the late Lynn, Scott McIntyre, and great-uncle of Scottie McIntyre IV.

Hammer loved the game of golf. He was an AVID golfer who accomplished 5 holes in one. He loved to beat you on the course during the day and buy you a drink or two after the round, but mostly, he just liked to play golf and tell stories about the game of golf.

As a long time member and past President of Glen Oak Country Club in Glen Ellyn, he was very passionate about the West District Golf League, of which he was a club team member for many years. His passion for golf and his love of Glen Oak were the catalyst for the creation of the GO Club Foundation, a scholarship program for employees and their children, of which he was so proud of.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday November 20th from 2PM until time of service at 3PM at Leonard Funeral Home, 565 Duane St. Glen Ellyn.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the GO Club Foundation mail to: Glen Oak County Club, GO Club Foundation, 21W451 Hill Ave. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
