Arlene DeMotte

A. Arlene DeMotte, 88 of Glen Ellyn, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 13, 2026, with her beloved husband of 67 years, David L. DeMotte, by her side. She was the cherished mother of Andrew DeMotte (Kathryn Graham) and loving grandmother of Julia DeMotte and Ryan DeMotte; dearest daughter of the late Charles Zimmerman and the late Edith (nee: Lamport) Zimmerman; caring sister of the late Warren (Ruth) Zimmerman, the late Shirley (Fred) Carpenter, the late Donald Zimmerman, the late Evelyn (Fred) Von Alven, Robert (Carol) Zimmerman, and the late Kenneth Zimmerman as well as the dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Arlene earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education from the University of Illinois. She started her career as a typing and shorthand teacher at Glenbard East High School from 1963-1968, then left to focus on her role as a mother. She returned to the workforce in 1987 as the Milton Township Clerk, and remained in that role until 2008.

Throughout her adult life, she was an active volunteer for the Republican Party and the local community, engaged in the activities of her son and his family, and an avid fan of mystery novels and the Chicago Cubs.

A visitation for Arlene will be held on Saturday, February 21st from 10 AM until time of service (11 AM) at Leonard Funeral Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. She will be laid to rest privately at Union Cemetery in Emington, IL.
