Ardwin Droessler Obituary

Ardwin Joseph (Joe) Droessler passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Joe was born on February 25, 1963 in Dubuque, Iowa to Geneva and Ardwin Droessler. Joe graduated from Hempstead Senior High School in 1981. He was a lifelong Hawkeye, and received his Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa.

Joe met his loving wife of 30 years, Michelle, while in college, and they married on October 19, 1991 in Des Moines, Iowa. They moved to Glen Ellyn, Illinois in 2001 where they raised their two children, Jake and Hanna. Joe was a devoted and proud father and his family meant the world to him.

Joe enjoyed a long career that allowed him to befriend many co-workers, clients and even competitors. He began his career as a public accountant. In 1993, Joe joined Dempsey and Company. He spent nearly 30 years in wholesale market-making and most recently acted as the Chief Operating Officer of G1X Execution Services.

Joe always looked for ways to help those around him. He was a long time member of the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago, as well as a mentor and donor to the University of Iowa’s Gateway Program, and an active member of Glenbard West Boosters. He enjoyed the years he spent coaching his children in baseball, football and soccer.

Joe loved to share music and his beloved Hawkeyes with friends and family. He loved taking long walks, skiing and biking, and made countless memories, especially while participating in RAGBRAI, an annual bike ride across Iowa.

Joe was thoughtful, generous, and fun-loving and brightened the day of all who crossed his path.

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife and children, his siblings Sandra (James) Andersen, Marcia (Tom Goetzinger) Neville, Sheila (Rick) Vierkant, Lenny (Mary) Droessler, Teresa (Jim) Baker and Tony (Connie) Droessler, his adoring in-laws Ron and Sandy Johnson, his brother-in- law Scott Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kevin and Brian Droessler.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to University of Iowa’s Gateway Program in Joe’s honor.
