Alice Parmelee Obituary

Alice Mae Parmelee (nee Fagstad), Wheaton, Illinois, beloved wife of Byrd Parmelee, devoted mother of Jane DiGiovanni (Nick), and Robert Parmelee (Karen), daughter of Simon & Lillian Fagstad, sister of Marian, Lois, Joanne, caring grandmother of Ben, Bethany (Quang), James DiGiovanni, Zachary (Alison), and Eli Parmelee, aunt of many nieces and nephews, died peacefully at home on December 10, 2023.

Alice was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  She began her nursing career at the same hospital where she was born. She subsequently earned a B.S. in Public Health at The University of Minnesota.  She served as school nurse in Glen Ellyn School District for 24 years.

Through her adult life, Alice nurtured her curiosity and intelligence through reading and travel.  She was a talented seamstress, sewing many clothes for herself and her children.  In retirement, she produced lovely quilts, crocheted prayer shawls, and knitted sweaters for many. Her family and close friends enjoyed many beautiful gatherings in her home with fabulous home cooked meals.  Alice’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was nurtured through church and Bible Study Fellowship in which she studied for many years.
