Robert William Warner Jr.

Robert “Bob” Warner, age 76 and lifelong resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away on October 7th.  He is the beloved husband of Carol for 55 wonderful years; Loving father of Sharlet (Christopher) Collins and Michael; Dear grandfather of Ryan (Sandibel) Stowe and Jennifer (Jon) Opocensky; Great-grandfather of Haleigh Prescher; Dear son of the late Robert & Cecilia; Fond brother of Judith (late Michael) Brewster, late Mary Crabb, late Pamela Metcalf, late Kathleen Fischer and the late Mary Lou Warner, and uncle of many nieces & nephews.

Bob had many interests over the years, including birding, music, woodworking, photography, motorcycles, auto racing, physics, genealogy, trains, and his German heritage.  He was always learning something new and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with a captive audience.  He took pride in his work as a pipefitter, was an expert in his field, and a respected teacher of his trade.  Bob loved learning.

He volunteered his time at a train museum in Colorado where he lived for years, lending a creative hand in constructing many of its displays.  His resourceful nature no doubt came from time spent with his grandfather as a boy; he in turn passed along that same gift to others including his own grandson.  He will be most remembered as an honest and intelligent man.  He loved his friends and family, especially his wife Carol whom he treasured.  He was a real humdinger.  

Visitation will be Thursday, October 12th from 4-8 PM at Leonard Funeral Home, 565 Duane Street Glen Ellyn.  Prayers will be said at 1:30 PM Friday, then processing to St. Petronille Church, 420 Glenwood Avenue for 2 PM Mass.  Interment St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.  In lieu of flowers please make donations in his honor to the American Lung Association National Direct Response Headquarters, 1200 Hosford Street, Suite 101 Hudson, WI  54016.
