Phyllis Kennard

Phyllis Kennard, age 86 of Glen Ellyn for 60 years. Beloved wife of the late Donald, loving mother of Kerri (Don) Andersen, the late Timothy (Julie) and the late Thomas (Sally), dear grandmother of Timothy (Angie) Kennard, Jennifer (Chad) Van Wagner, Emily (Daniel) Wilson, Margaret (David) Spoelhof, Hannah Andersen, Jaffrine Kennard, and Alaina Kennard. Great-grandmother of Michael, Benjamin, and Ellis Van Wagner; Carter, Taylor, and Cody Kennard; Joseph, Evelyn, and Mitchell Wilson; Anders and Diederik Spoelhof; Alexander, Brooklynn, Landyn, and Jessica.  Born July 31, 1931, the only child of George and Thelma Carter.  Phyllis graduated from Harper High School in Chicago in 1949.  She earned an associates certificate in office / secretarial skills. She met Donald while working for Link-Belt in Chicago and they were married for nearly 62 years.  Phyllis stayed at home to raise her family, then returned to the work force in the late 60's, serving at the DuPage County Assessor’s Office, then Rockford Controls Corporation of Glen Ellyn, and finally Richmar Electronics in Downers Grove until she retired.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 4pm-8pm at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, 60137.  Memorial Service Sunday, October 8, 3pm, at First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn, 424 Forest Ave, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.  Interment private.  Donations to the church or Residential Hospice, 1431 Opus Place, Suite 310, Downers Grove, IL 60515 appreciated.
