Philip J. Niekelski, age seventy-two of Warrenville, passed away Wednesday, November sixth. Beloved husband of Judith for forty-six years; loving father of Kaitlin Niekelski, dear grandfather of Olivia Niekelski, brother of Paul (Helen) Niekelski, Betty (Hank) Eberhart, brother-in-law of Kathleen Powell, uncle of Paul ( Zelda) Niekelski, Chelsea Niekelski, Danika (Eddie) Croker, Nick Eberhart and Abbey Lotterer.
Many people knew Philip as a man of few words, but to those he was closest to, that was far from the truth. Not only did Philip hold his family tight in his heart, everyone he encountered, he treated and cared for as though they were family. During the last three years, he spent most of his time with his granddaughter, Olivia. He enjoyed teaching her how to count to ten and her ABC’s. The laughter the two of them shared was contagious and had the ability to light up a room.
Philip was an accountant and spent the majority of his career working for Nalco Chemical Company. He was adored as a boss, co-worker and friend. Philip was an Air Force Veteran, which stemmed from his love for NASA. Phil enjoyed teaching his daughter about outer space and named stars for both his daughter, Kaitlin, and his granddaughter, Olivia. Along with outer space, Phil most enjoyed sharing his love for Disney. Disney World was indeed his happiest place on earth.
