Kathryn Seed Stevens

Kathryn Seed Stevens was born November 3, 1925 in Campbell, Missouri, to Oscar and Myrtle Seed. She and her sister, Peggy, were reared and educated in St. Louis, Missouri and Urbana, Illinois. She received a B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1946. She married Henry E. Stevens in 1947 and they had a daughter Lyn and son Scott. Most of their married life they lived in Glen Ellyn, Illinois but also Sycamore, Illinois, Long Beach, California, Hudson, Ohio, and Baltimore, Maryland.  Before the birth of her children, she worked in the corporate offices of Montgomery Ward in Chicago and with Anaconda Wire and Cable. After her family was grown she taught school in District #16. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi, PEO, First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton and the President’s Council of the University of Illinois Foundation. Kay and her husband Hank moved to Wyndemere in 1998. In 1998 they joined Wyndemere’s involvement with Rush University Study on Memory and Aging. Survivors include her husband, Hank, her daughter Lyn (Randy) Heiple and son Scott (Jan) Stevens. Also her grandchildren – Kelly Popejoy, Chris Stevens, Dave Stevens, 5 great grandchildren and sister, Peggy Crandall Callahan.  A private interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Champaign, Illinois. A memorial service will be held on December 9, 2017, 10 AM at Wyndemere Auditorium, 200 Wyndemere Cir, Wheaton, IL 60187. If desired, memorials may be sent to Hospice of DuPage, 690 E.
